Hand and Finger Strengthening Exercises using FACEXER

Hands and finger  strengthening exercises with FACEXER

Hand and finger exercises can help strengthen your hands and fingers, increase your range of motion and prevent osteoarthritis. (source  http://www.webmd.com/osteoarthritis/)  Stretch your fingers only until you feel tightness. You shouldn't feel pain.

You can do these exercises 3-4 times a week, but rest your hands for 48 hours in between sessions.

Warning: Don't do these exercises if your thumb joint is damaged; always consult your doctor before beginning any exercise program

An Exercise Tip

If your hands and fingers feel painful and stiff, try warming them up before you exercise. This can make it easier to move and stretch. Immerse FACEXER in hot water before exercising (FACEXER material tolerates boiling water and freezing temperatures).

Make a Squeeze

Start with this simple stretch:

  • Place FACEXER in your right (left) hand (palm up). Stretch your arm out in front of you while balancing FACEXER in your open hand.
  • Make a gentle fist, wrapping your thumb and fingers around FACEXER.
  • Gently squeeze FACEXER.
  • Hold for 5 seconds. Release and spread your fingers wide. Hold for 5 seconds.
  • Repeat with each hand at least 5-10 times.

Finger Stretch

  • Place FACEXER in your right hand (palm up). Stretch your arm out in front of you while balancing FACEXER  in your open hand
  • Place your left hand palm-down on the FACEXER in the right hand.
  • Gently straighten your fingers as flat as you can without forcing your joints.
  • Hold for 3-10 seconds and then release.
  • Repeat at least 5-10 times with each hand.

Finger Bend

This stretch helps improve the range of motion in your fingers.

  • Hold FACEXER in your right hand out in front of you, palm facing you.
  • Bend your fingertips down to touch the FACEXER of each finger joint. Your hand should look a little like a claw.
  • Hold for 3-10 seconds and release.
  • Repeat at least 5-10 times with each hand.

Fist  Strengthener

  • Hold a FACEXER  in your palm and squeeze it as hard as you can.
  • Hold for a few seconds and release.
  • Repeat 5 to 10 times on each hand. ( Don't do this exercise if your thumb joint is damaged)

Finger Fan

  • Place FACEXER between the palms of your hands, meeting fingers of each hand together.
  • Gently lift one finger of each hand at a time off and then put them back together.
  • You can also lift all your fingers and thumb at once, and then put them back together.
  • Repeat 5-10 times

Fingers Extension

  • Place FACEXER between the palms of your hands, meeting fingers of each hand together.
  • Gently move your thumb and fingers away from each other as far as you can.
  • Hold for 3-10 seconds and release.
  • Repeat 10 -15 times. You can do this exercise two to three times a week, but rest your hands for 48 hours in between sessions.

Finger Touch

  • Hold FACEXER between your thumb and fingers in front of you, with your wrist straight.
  • Gently press FACEXER with  your four fingertips, one at a time, against the FACEXER and thumb.
  • Hold each stretch for 3-10 seconds. Repeat at least four times on each hand.

Play With FACEXER

  • Playing with FACEXER is a great way to increase the range of motion in your fingers and strengthen your hands at the same time. And it won't even feel like exercise.
  • Just follow the kids' lead -- squash the FACEXER, roll it with your palms, or use your fingertips to pinch FACEXER.
